“Sixth Form is a safe and welcoming environment that allows us to express ourselves.” (Nathan, Y13 student)
Duke’s Sixth Form students receive extensive support and guidance throughout their time with us. The Sixth Form team are dedicated to supporting all students to achieve their full academic potential, providing help and support where necessary.
Our system of monitoring is based on regular data inputs by staff. Progress is then compared to the top 20% of national performance via ALPS software. Students who are in need of support are then identified and the Duke’s Sixth Form team works closely with departmental staff to provide bespoke support.
Parents are provided with academic reports each term. We also hold results evenings after each of our assessment periods in which parents and students can meet with teaching staff to discuss progress and targets for improvement.
All students join a tutor group with a tutor who takes a special interest in their welfare and progression. Our Head of Sixth Form is a non-teaching member of staff and is permanently based in the Duke’s Sixth Form study zone in order to help students with any academic or pastoral support that is required. In 2021 the Sixth Form appointed a Learning and Progress Manager who works closely with all students to ensure they achieve their potential.
