We believe that in order for our students to leave us fully prepared to take their places as confident and positive members of society, it is important to support them in understanding as many of the different aspects of society that they are likely to encounter. Over the last couple of years our students have taken part in a series of guest speakers assemblies and conferences designed to widen their understanding of national and world issues. These have included:
- Topical assemblies weekly (Including: The U.S Election; Antibiotic Resistance; The UK Election System)
- Drugs Awareness conference
- Ethics conference
- Mental health conference
- General election hustings
- God and the Big Bang debate
- Populism debate
Our sixth form students engage with PSHE education every day during morning tutor time, ensuring consistent, meaningful opportunities for personal development alongside their academic studies. Sessions are structured around key themes: life beyond sixth form, celebrating diversity and equality, staying safe both online and offline, health and wellbeing, and relationships and sex education. Through guided discussions and reflective activities, students build the knowledge, confidence and life skills they need to make informed decisions, develop respectful relationships, manage their wellbeing and prepare successfully for higher education, employment and adult life.
In addition, a weekly chaplain drop-in provides a supportive space to explore current issues, encourage reflective questioning and offer pastoral guidance, further enriching students’ personal growth and sense of community.
