Deputy Principal’s Welcome
Duke’s Sixth Form is an exciting place to learn and we pride ourselves on how well our students are prepared to progress into university study, apprenticeships and employment. We put a strong emphasis on being the best you can be here and this means working hard, developing great attitudes to learning, and experiencing as many opportunities as you can.
Our curriculum offers a good range of A Level subjects to choose from and a number of excellent vocational options. Our vocational provision has regularly been judged to be in the top 10% of sixth form providers nationally and our students are able to study a mixed programme of both vocational and academic subjects, meaning that they really can set their sights on excellent futures through the education and training at Duke’s Sixth Form.
I am very proud of what our pupils achieve during their time in Duke’s Sixth Form, and not just in their academic outcomes, although clearly, this is crucial. At this sixth form we expect students to leave us with as wide an experience as possible, whether that is through completing Gold Arts Award, work experience or sports leadership.
We have supported students with volunteering in countries across the world, along with many other trips and visits within the UK. I am equally proud of what our pupils go on to achieve; the majority of our students leave Duke’s Sixth Form after achieving a place at university, and some go on to amazing apprenticeship opportunities and others into employment. Whatever their destination, students leave us as young adults with a wide range of skills, positive attitudes and an array of experiences that set them apart and give them opportunities to progress into many different futures.
Duke’s Sixth Form is part of a large and diverse Church of England Academy, and as such we are motivated by our belief that every person is made in the likeness of God, and if nurtured, encouraged and challenged, that person will flourish and their light will shine.
