Introduction

The PSHCE curriculum brings together and supports Dukes DNA, LIGHT themes and Three R’s, as well as linking into British values. Students cover elements of key concepts and develop an understanding of how they can be linked and developed through time and changes they experience. This is achieved through a spiral curriculum where areas are revisited and importantly built upon to make connection relevant to age and situations. Knowledge can be covered as separate standalone lessons or a sequence of linked lessons. An example of this is the relationship and sex education where Y7 start with puberty, worries and support and each year we move on and develop further through conception, contraception, body image, abusive relationships, negotiation skills, consent and parenting.
