‘Leaders place students firmly at the heart of the Sixth Form’s work and central to its processes’ (Ofsted 2017)
Students at JBVI receive extensive strong support and guidance throughout their time with us. The JBVI team are dedicated to supporting all students to achieve their full academic potential, providing help and support where necessary.
Our system of monitoring is based on regular six weekly data inputs by staff. Progress is then compared to the top 20% of national performance via ALPS software. Students who are in need of support are then identified and the JBVI team works closely with departmental staff to provide bespoke support.
Parents are provided with intermediate academic reports each half term as well as final reports on a twice yearly basis. We also hold two results evenings after each of our assessment periods in which parents and students can meet with teaching staff to discuss progress and targets for improvement.
All students join a tutor group with a tutor who takes a special interest in their welfare and progression. Our head of sixth form is a non-teaching of staff and is permanently based in the JBVI study zone in order to help students with any academic or pastoral support that is required.
